Painted digtally with Photoshop, Painter 12 and Sketchup using a Wacom tablet.

Inspired by Lake Atitlán in Guatemala, this piece features the country's national bird, the quetzal.  It is rising from the lake like a phoenix of transformation, initiating the merging of the ancient and the future, represented by the village below.  The village combines thatched roof houses and ancient temples mixed with geodesic domes and modern eco-influenced architecture.  This piece was created for the Cosmic Convergence festival, which is based on the lake and carries the values of blending ancient and future technologies and ideas.
